Massage

 In October 2004 Amy Gottschalk’s commitment to health and wellness was reaffirmed when her son was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes. She realized anew the importance of managing your health everyday. She brings this heightened sensitivity to her work. Every massage is adjusted to your specific needs and is given with respect and great care.  The style incorporates several modalities. Your massage will be based on your preferences for light or deep work, and will take into consideration any particular conditions, aches or pains you bring to the table.

Amy is a Certified Massage Therapist from Health Choices Holistic Massage School with specialties in LaStone Therapy, Deep Tissue, and Infant Massage Education. She is a member of the Association of Body Workers and Massage Professionals.

Before entering the fitness industry Amy received her Bachelor’s degree in Far Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago, and her Master’s degree in Linguistics and Second Language Teaching from the School or International Training. Originally from Chicago, she moved to this area after living and teaching abroad in Beijing, Taiwan, and Chile. She always had an interest in massage, but decided to pursue it more formally after taking care of her grandmother. Her grandmother had been an amateur pianist and a linguist speaking eight languages. Following in her grandmother’s footsteps, Amy studied Chinese and Spanish and developed her ability to communicate with people from all over the world. However, when her grandmother developed Alzheimer’s, and her illness progressed, she was eventually unable to remember how to speak. During this time, Amy discovered that touch could be a powerful form of communication through which they could maintain their close relationship.
